The water from the well was said to possess medicinal properties especially for eye complaints and was used into the 19th century. However, the water has now been diverted and little remains apart from
the niche in the wall.
It has however survied in local mythos, the Ward on the Eye Unit at the local Hospital (Royal Devon & Exeter) is called Parkerswell Ward. |
