Despite being one of the most famous and well visited neothlithic sites in the UK, I have never found Avebury's stones do much for me.

It is still worth a visit, it is a very large stone circle with a processional, and although the stones don't move me, the grove of beech trees does, and I usually visit them, when I am at the site. The village is very nice and has a very good gift and book shop, and also don't forget to stop on the A4 and have a look at Sidbury Hill, although you are unable to climb it anymore. The footpath to West Kennet Barrow is across the road from Sidbury Hill.
